History

Arkkis Chummuck was an archivist from the planet Toomey VI. Several years ago, the military leader known as the Foremost sent a contingent of soldiers to the planet Xanshi. Leading the squad was a soldier named Tarrik who sought to subjugate the avian denizens of Xanshi, but was repelled by that world's Green Lantern. Shortly thereafter, Arkkis Chummuck conducted a study of the Green Lantern Corps and learned of their greatest weakness - the Green Lanterns were powerless against anything colored yellow. Arkkis falsified records to gain access to a starship and flew to Xanshi to meet the Green Lantern. Donning golden armor, he fought with the Green Lantern and inadvertently dealt him a fatal blow. Though dying, the Green Lantern recognized Arkkis Chummuck's honor and courageousness and bequeathed to him his power ring. After the Green Lantern died, Arkkis (as per the custom of his people) consumed his remains. Arkkis became the Xanshi guardian's successor in the Green Lantern Corps. At first, Arkkis acted independently of the Green Lantern Corps and he returned to his home world in an effort bring an end to the hostilities between Toomey VI and Xanshi. To facilitate this matter, Arkkis forced the Foremost to abdicate the throne, an action which resulted in the Foremost electing death over disgrace. By default, Arkkis Chummuck became the new ruler of Toomey VI.

When news of the incident reached the Guardians of the Universe, Arkkis Chummuck was accused of abusing his power and using it to conquer Toomey VI. A formal inquest convened in the Great Hall of Justice and Green Lantern Malet Dasim presided for the prosecution. Ironically, one of the witnesses who rose to Arkkis' defense was the late Xanshi Green Lantern's nest-brother. The tribunal ultimately decided that Arkkis' actions did not disgrace the Green Lantern Corps, but he was however placed on probationary status. ^[1]
