This is a categorical list of characters whose appearances are no longer recognized as part of the modern DC universal continuity. Apocryphal characters are not necessarily regarded as deceased, but rather, they have the misfortune of never having existed in the first place.
Many characters from the Golden and Silver Age eras whose realities were wiped out during the Crisis on Infinite Earths are considered apocryphal.
Characters from alternate continuities such as Watchmen or Preacher, as well as licensed properties such as Star Trek or Masters of the Universe are not considered apocryphal as their appearances are regarded as canon within their respective realities.
